Luke 22:31-32
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
It is interesting to note that Jesus fore knew Satan’s desire to have Peter. Nothing catches God by surprise, He knows all and He sees all. God not only fore knew Satan’s plan to try and destroy Peter but He also intervened. Jesus said I have prayed for you Peter. Even before Satan every lifted his wicked hand against Peter, there was help on the way. Jesus prayed for Peter!
God knows the day and the hour that the enemy will try to sift you as wheat. God will never leave you unaware to be blind-sided by the enemy. If we will stay sensitive to His promptings and trust Him in every season of our lives He will never leave us unprepared. Whatever your enemy is plotting or doing against you in the dark God will bring it to the light.
Jesus told Peter that He had prayed for his faith that it would not fail. It is of the utmost importance that when you are going through seasons of onslaughts from the enemy that you keep your faith alive and strong. Proverbs 18:14 (AMP) declares, “The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?”
A strong spirit is a spirit that is fortified with faith. The bible tells us that faith comes by hearing the word of God. Once our spirit hears the word of God and receives it, faith then strengthens us. Jesus didn’t pray that God would cancel or stop the attack of Satan. Jesus knew that the faith of God was more powerful than any attack of the enemy that Peter or you and I would ever face. By faith mountains are moved. By faith many Christian soldiers: subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Hebrews 11)
These were all men and women of faith. Their faith did not fail them in the time of trouble. They obtained faith through hearing the voice of God. They didn't just hear the Word of God but they also were obedient to what they heard. Faith is not magic, it is majestic! Faith is of God and can only be gotten from Him. When we seek God we hear Him and when we hear Him through seeking Him, He is a rewarder. God rewards the diligent seeker. I believe one of those rewards is faith. Faith gives us access to everything we will ever have need of in the Kingdom of God. So no matter how diligent the devil seeks to devour you just keep seek God and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
God will never let the devil get the upper hand on you. So even though Satan desires to sift you as wheat remember Jesus has already prayed for you and He will not leave you ignorant of Satan’s device. So stand strong in your faith and know that God is your shield and He will not fail you.
No, God will never let the enemy get the upper hand in our lives if we stand on,speack and act according to God's word*
