Psalms 103: 1-2
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
The
psalmist was exercising spirit control over soul control. He refused to
allow his soul and body to dictate his covenant praise for God. Yes,
covenant praise. We were created to praise and worship God. The
scriptures tell us "let everything that hath breath praise the Lord"!
The psalmist said "everything within me". That means we should never
halfheartedly praise God. We should not allow our soul to go on a spiritual vacation when we praise and worship our wonderful, worthy Lord. We need to take control
and command our soul and body to be in unity with our spirit to praise
God with everything that is within us. God’s presence demands respect, honor and praise. To resist the unction to function in a spirit of praise in
His presence is nothing short of pride and rebellion. God deserves
radical praise. He is worthy of humble adoration. God inhabits the
praises of His people. Wherever God is there is power. The power of God
is not only released in us but through us to others as well. God’s power
plus your praise is an unbeatable pair. Go ahead, release God’s power
in your neighborhood, in your family, in your marriage, and on your job
through your unified: spirit, soul and body praise.
