Matthew 11:28-30 (AMP)
Come
to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I
will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your
souls.]
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am
gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest
(relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for
your souls.
For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good--not
harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and
pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.
The
Lord wants daily fellowship and communion with us. However, God will
not intrude or crash the door of our heart down to make us fellowship
with Him. He will not compete with the clamor of this world for your
attention. God is with us and dwells in every believer in Christ. We
must draw near to Him and seek Him. We must desire communion with Him.
The
world is speaking and calling for our attention every day. It seeks to
distract and allure you away from your God given purpose. The flesh, the
world and the devil scream for your attention 24/7. There are things
designed to capture you attention and your interest, in an attempt to
pull your heart and devotion toward it and away from God. Don’t
surrender to its sway.
God has a purpose for your life but
it will only be fulfilled as we closely follow Him. God does not seek
to draw your attention through the lust of the eye. He will quietly
appeal to your spirit. The scripture reveals to us that the spirit of
man is the candle of the Lord. God will lead and guide us through our
born-again spirits. But this happens only as we yield to Him, He will
not force us to come to Him.
Purpose in your heart to
diligently seek the Lord every day. Turn your attention several times
throughout the day to Him and cultivate your devotion and fellowship
with Him.
