Mark 5:19
Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith
unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the
Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
There
was a saying years ago that said, “Home is where the heart is.” Home is
a place of comfort and security for many people. Home is a place of
tradition and familiarity. Home is a place that is embedded with natural
feelings and human attachment and acceptance. Home reminds us of our
natural lineage and place of firsts and beginnings. Home should
represent a place of trust and safety. Home is a place where people feel
like they belong.
In the bible account above, Jesus told a
man who was previously possessed with many devils and ostracized from
his home, family and friends, to go home. Obviously this man had friends
and family before he became tormented by this multitude of devils that
inhabited him. Jesus said go home to thy friends and tell them the great
things the Lord has done for you (paraphrasing mine). Home should be a
place that we share the love of God. Home should be a place where we
exalt and esteem the Lord, telling friends and family the great things
He has done for us. If anybody should be able to recognize the
transformation in your life it should be close friends and family who
knew you then (before Christ) and see you now (after salvation). Be bold
to tell those at home the great things the Lord has done for you and
how He has had compassion on you.
